Terms of Service
1. Welcome to OurFirstLoves.com (“Project”). By visiting our Project, you agree to be bound by all of the terms of this Agreement. We reserve the right to change the terms of this Agreement or to modify any features of our Project at any time. By continuing to visit our Project, you agree to be bound by such changes.
2. You acknowledge that you have read and agree to the guidelines for:
(a) Responding to our Project’s stories: OurFirstLoves welcomes the interactivity of users. It is a Project based on the idea that journalism on the Internet should be about connectivity, rather than just hyperlinks or social networking. The Project brings people together and shows us what we have in common by telling the universal stories of love. As such, we reserve the right to remove any postings that include the use of foul language, personal attacks, or the use of language that may be libelous or interpreted as inciting hate or sexual harassment, though are not obligated to do so.
By responding to stories or engaging in any form of communication with our Project, you grant us royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive, unrestricted, worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, enhance, transmit, distribute, publicly perform, display or sublicense any such communication (including your identity and information about you) in any medium (now in existence or hereinafter developed) and for any purpose, including commercial purposes, and to authorize others to do so.
(b) Uploading your own First Love story to our Project: All text, photographs, graphics, video and audio content uploaded by you are owned by you, but by sharing your story, you grant OurFirstLoves.com royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive, unrestricted, worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, enhance, transmit, distribute, publicly perform, display or sublicense any such communication (including your identity and information about you) in any medium (now in existence or hereinafter developed) and for any purpose, including commercial purposes, and to authorize others to do so. Content may not be illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, infringing of intellectual property rights, invasive of privacy or otherwise injurious or objectionable.
3. This Project (including, but not limited to, text, photographs, graphics, video and audio content) is protected by copyright as a collective work or compilation under the copyright laws of the United States and other countries. All individual articles, content and other elements comprising this Project are also copyrighted works. You must abide by all additional copyright notices or restrictions contained in this Project.
4. Except for content you have posted on the Project, or unless expressly permitted, you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, enter into a database, display, perform, modify, create derivative works, transmit, or in any way exploit any part of this Project, for any sort of financial gain, network, database. You may only view and respond to the Project’s stories for your own personal enjoyment.
5. Just as we require users to respect our Project’s copyrights, we respect the copyrights of others. If you believe in good faith that your copyrighted work has been reproduced on our site without authorization in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, you may notify OurFirstLoves.com by e-mail at info@ourfirstloves.com.
6. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Illinois. Any action to enforce this Agreement shall be brought in the federal or state courts located in Cook County, Illinois. You hereby agree to personal jurisdiction by such courts, and waive any jurisdictional, venue or inconvenient forum objections to such courts.
