I’ve always had terrible food kicks where I decide I like one food and I will eat it until I get so sick of it. And I remember my first, first food crush was spaghettis. Spaghettis? Spaghetti.
I think I fell in love with spaghetti the first time I had spaghetti. I’m Korean, so I grew up eating Korean food, and I think at some point in my life I had spaghetti and I realized that was the most perfect thing in the world.
And that lasted until I came to college and I started eating dining hall pasta and hated it. But every time I go anywhere, I know it’s kind of weird, Steakhouse, Outback, wherever we went, wherever we went, I ordered spaghettis. There was no, no no, no exception to that rule.
And then, I mean since college, things have changed, I started liking chocolate milk, and then I liked chicken wings one day, and then I liked apple pies and now I like grilled cheese—but nothing has lasted longer than spaghetti. Spaghetti has lasted since, I don’t know how young it started, but until about age 18. So it has a very special place in my heart.
